Joanna Stuart, a native New Yorker and cultural anthropologist, now lives in New Haven, CT USA. The self-taught artist takes photographs from which she creates abstract images and collages of imaginary scenes. She also photographs with the intent of inspiring aesthetic experiences with images of rural-to-urban scenes. She has exhibited collages from her Home Series at a Westville gallery in New Haven, and will be showing photographs there for the month of June 2016. A current photograph series, “Views from the Metro-North” (named for the commuter train between New Haven and Grand Central Station, NYC), is the first ever to be exhibited in New Haven’s busy Union Station. It runs through December 21, 2015.
