Helen Bar-Lev was born in New York City in 1942. She has lived in Israel for 44 years. Since 1976 she has devoted herself to art: painting, teaching, poetry. To date Helen has had over 90 exhibitions, including 32 one-person shows. She studied art at New York University and the Cooper Union in New York, and in Israel with Eliyahu Gat, Rachel Shavit and Prof. Yosef Hirsch. From 1989 - 2001 she was a member of the Safad Artists’ Colony where she had her own gallery. In 2002 she was curator of an exhibition dedicated to the memory of Yosef Hirsch in which 53 of his former students participated – at three prestigious venues in Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv and Haifa. She is a member of the Israel Artists and Sculptors Association.
