Yacov Gabay was born in Kibbutz Yagur, Israel. In 1964 he received a scholarship from Helena Rubinstein Fund and traveled to Paris, where he attended the Academie des Beaux Arts and joined Chapelain-Midy Roger Atelier. In 1970 he returned to Israel and has since given seven solo exhibitions in Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa. Yacov has also taken part in group exhibitions on various subjects such as landscape, nature, still life, portraiture and interior.
Yacov works in a variety of techniques, but chiefly oil painting. He is a member of the Israel Association of Painters and Sculptors and appears in Israel Art magazine and journals as well as in art books that are published in Israel from time to time.
