Ruth Scheuler was born in Basel, the youngest of three children in 1945. Already in early youth, her late father installed in her a love of nature. Her favourite occupation was being in the countryside with him every Sunday to identify plants and animals. After graduating from high school and studying biology at Basel university Ruth emigrated to Israel and has been living in Jerusalem since 1972.
For over thirty years Ruth worked in local hospitals, first as a laboratory technician, later as a medical technician in cardiology. Since her retirement five years ago she has had more time to devote to her hobbies, nature and photography. She am also a volunteer at the Jerusalem Bird Observatory and at the Jerusalem Zoo, and loves to visit many parts of this country in search of birds and other subjects.
